Sept 11. A day of remembrance.

There is nothing that makes me more proud to be a first responder than to know I am working along side with those that would gladly give up their life so that others may live. Today, 12 years ago, many of those people that proudly called themselves first responders give up their life so that many more should live. As I read about these stories I keep thinking to myself, what would I do in that situation? To be honest: I'm not sure, but I hope that if I am ever in that situation I would have the courage to do what those people did in order to save the many lives that could've been lost on that day. Though our job seems repetitive and often pointless at times, we have to remember that being given the chance to directly impact a someone in a life or death situation which could result in the person being alive 12 years later is an honour that shouldn't be taken for granted. For those that gave up their lives my thoughts are with their families as I believe it never gets easier when you lose a loved one. For this, I am truly thankful for their sacrifice.
